Hacking the Treo 700wx registry - disconnecting data after checking email

Got a bill today from Bell mobility for $85 for data overages last month on my Treo 700wx. Turns out my phone started behaving differently than it had been previously, staying connected after checking email and using bandwidth as evidenced by my online bill.
